2. COLLECT YOUR DOCUMENTS FOR AN INTERVIEW AND EMPLOYMENT:

  • Copy of international passport
  • Birth certificate (Original or notarized copy + translation)
  • Marriage certificate / Document on change of name / surname (Original or notarized copy + translation)
  • School certificate (indicating the period of study) (Original or notarized copy + translation)
  • A document confirming the receipt of medical education (diploma) (Original or notarized copy + translation)
  • A document on the content of education indicating the duration of training, the number of teaching hours, the ratio of practical and theoretical content of training (diploma supplement, grade book, curriculum, archival reference) (Original or notarized copy + translation)

4. OWN ASSURANCE THAT YOU DIDN’T APPLY FOR RECOGNITION OF MEDICAL EDUCATION IN ANOTHER COUNTRY

If you already applied for a procedure of recognition of your documents in another country other than Germany, then you will not be permitted to apply in Germany. This is a standard law in most EU countries.

5. LANGUAGE CERTIFICATE (GERMAN LEVEL B2)

If you do not have a German language proficiency certificate, this is not a problem. Pflegepersonal in Deutschland, together with German medical clinics, provides the opportunity to study the language after arriving in Germany. Submission of documents for recognition of a diploma cannot be carried out without this certificate. In order to obtain a work permit, a certificate is required.

6. TRANSLATION OF DOCUMENTS AND RECOGNITION OF A DIPLOMA

After clarifying the list of required documents, they will be submitted for translation into German. The term for consideration of documents and obtaining an opinion is from 1 to 3 months.

The approbation department issues a conclusion that the diploma will be recognized subject to internship or additional training in Germany. A clinic that is interested in you as a nurse assumes the responsibility of completing your education and providing you with practice in the missing subjects. The clinic will sign a contract with you for an internship as a nurse assistant.

PLEASE NOTE: All documents must be submitted in original or in a notarized copy. All documents must be translated into German by a sworn translator in Germany. Medical institutions do not recognize other transfers. Translation of ID card and passport is not required.

If you have completed your nursing degree outside of Germany, it may not be equivalent to a German education. In this case, the approbation authority will only partially recognize your education. You will be given recommendations on which subjects you will need to complete in order to receive full recognition of the diploma. As a rule, medical practice takes up to 6 months.
